Research scientists are welcome to the station to pursue their own research projects or to join long-term undergoing experiments with their own questions. Since the station was established in the early 80s, many research areas have been covered through time. We strongly suggest getting in touch with the science coordinator, Bruno Hérault, when building the research project in order to navigate the existing literature. Please also use online databases for a first screening.
Master and PhD candidates will find in Paracou an excellent place to plan their fieldwork and students can reside on the site several weeks or months. Please note working alone is forbidden in the station, i.e. students must be accompanied by another person. The Paracou team may help you to plan your fieldwork at best with current research activities.
Paracou was initially set up for testing different silvicultural treatments. We are always pleased to share our forestry results and welcome foresters to visit the logged plots and discuss forestry issues.
Engineers from French high-schools (Ecole des Mines, AgroParisTech) are used to plan tropical field exercises in Paracou.
We welcome French Guianan scholars for a daily discovery trip. Please contact us early to design a comprehensive pedagogical project.
